Experience the best of southern Madagascar as you travel from Antananarivo (Tana) to the beautiful white beaches of Ifaty. Witness landscapes transform along Route Nationale 7, from highlands and rice fields to tropical forests, savannahs, and desert. Explore four very different parks and discover Madagascar’s nature, culture, and handicrafts along the way.
Day-to-Day Program
Day 01:
Ivato Airport – Antananarivo (10 km)

Welcome to Madagascar!

Pickup at Ivato International Airport and transfer to Antananarivo, the capital and “City of a Thousand Warriors.” Check in at your hotel.

Overnight: Chalet des Roses – Standard Room

Day 02:
Antananarivo – Antsirabe (160 km / 3.5 hours)

After breakfast, drive along Route Nationale 7 to Antsirabe. Enjoy the highlands’ lush rice fields and scenic views. Stop for photos, local fruits, and crafts along the way, then enjoy lunch. In the evening, stroll through the town center or take a traditional “pousse-pousse” ride.

Overnight: Couleur Café – Comfort Room

Day 03:
Antsirabe – Ranomafana – Night Walk (200 km / 7 hours plus visit)

Visit craft shops producing traditional Malagasy carvings before departing for Ranomafana. Stop in Ambositra for lunch, possibly enjoying a traditional Malagasy meal and folk dance at the Artisan Hotel. Continue to Ranomafana, arriving before evening.

Night Walk: Explore nocturnal wildlife with a local guide—spot mouse lemurs, frogs, chameleons, and more (approx. 2 hours).

Overnight: Hotel Manja – Economy Room

Day 04:
Ranomafana – Ranomafana National Park – Fianarantsoa – Ambalavao (100 km)

After breakfast, visit Ranomafana National Park with a local guide. Discover lemurs including Grey Bamboo Lemur, Milne-Edwards Sifaka, and the famous Golden Bamboo Lemur, as well as birds and insects.

After the park visit, drive south through Fianarantsoa, Madagascar’s academic city, admiring the Upper Town. Continue to Ambalavao and check in at the hotel.

Overnight: Tsieniparihy Lodge

Day 05:
Ambalavao – Anja Reserve – Ranohira (250 km)

Morning visit to Anja Reserve, a community-managed park known for ring-tailed lemurs on granite boulders. Continue south through changing landscapes—pine forests give way to dry savannah, cactus, termite mounds, and dust. Arrive late afternoon at Ranohira, near Isalo National Park.

Overnight: Orchidee Hotel – Standard Room

Day 06:

Ranohira – Isalo National Park – Ranohira

After breakfast, enter Isalo National Park. Walk through incredible landscapes shaped by wind and water. After 3 km, arrive at the natural oasis pool, Piscine Naturelle, where you can swim and relax.

Continue walking to Namaza, passing dry deciduous forest and dwarf baobabs. Picnic lunch at Namaza campsite. Visit Cascade des Amoureux (Lovers Waterfall), swim, relax, and enjoy nature. Return to the parking lot and drive back to Ranohira.

Overnight: Orchid Hotel

Day 07:
Ranohira – Zombitse Vohibasia Park – Tulear – Ifaty

After breakfast, continue south to the coast, crossing savannah plains and the sapphire village of Ilakaka. Stop at Zombitse Vohibasia Park to see lemurs and baobabs. Continue past Mahafaly tombs and reach the coastal city of Tulear for lunch. Transfer to Ifaty, arriving before evening.

Overnight: Nautilus Hotel – Comfort Room

End of tour.
